Beta State Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded for graduate study for one academic year, January 1 through December 31; or June 1 through May 31 of the following year. Beta State Memorial Scholarships are categorized as short-term, $700; and the Beta State Founders Scholarship is categorized as long-term, $3100. Requirements:
1. Applicants for short-term scholarships may be in one of the following programs: master’s, certification beyond the master’s, education specialist, or doctoral.
2. Applicants for the long-term scholarship must be in one of the following programs: education specialist, doctor of education, or doctor of philosophy.
3. Applicants for the short-term scholarship must have been Beta State members for three years (initiated prior to July 1); five years (initiated prior to July 1) for the
long-term scholarship.
4. A member may apply for state and international scholarships, but may accept only one at the same time.
5. A member may apply for short-term and long-term scholarships, but may accept only one at a time.
6. Completed applications (including recommendation letters) must be postmarked no later than February 1. Seven copies are to be mailed to the current Beta State

7. Letters of recommendation must be from:
Current chapter president who can document applicant’s involvement at the chapter level, including frequency of attendance
Supervisor from educational system of employment who can document applicant’s contributions to the field of education
Personal choice – one who can testify to applicant’s character and contributions to school, community, and/or church
8. Applicants for the long-term scholarship must submit a letter from the major professor or chairperson of her doctoral committee who can document Official acceptance into the program
Progress toward completion of degree requirements, and
Anticipated date of completion
9. Applicants must submit
Official transcript with official seal, signature, and date of all undergraduate
study, and
Letter of acceptance to graduate school for program of applicant’s choice
10. Applicants must submit a narrative to include:
Paragraph One: Professional goals to be achieved via advanced education
Paragraph Two: personal goals, and
Paragraph Three: personal philosophy of education
11. Applicants for the long-term scholarship will be interviewed by a member(s) of the Beta State Scholarship Committee.
12. Applicants must include a statement of agreement to mail copies of grade reports
after each semester to the chair of the Beta State Scholarship Committee.
13.Applicants must follow all directions carefully; use the specified form, sign, and postmark by February 1. The Scholarship Committee will not notify applicants
concerning incomplete packets.
